The Preston Lions Football Club would like to congratulate
Lioness Nabila Saliba for being awarded the
WPL Goalkeeper of the Year award and Lionesses
coach Andy Fry for being awarded the
WPL Coach of the Year.
In what has been the most successful
season for the womens team of the Preston Lions,
determination and hard work by the coaching staff and
players saw the Lionesses finish third on the WPL table,
the highest in its history and participate in its first ever
Final Series of the Womens Premier League.
As the
players and coaching staff take a well earned rest,
Lionesses coach Fry stated that planning and preparations
will soon begin for the clubs assault of the WPL in 2009.
The club
would also like to congratulate Lions midfielder and
captain Tony Sterjovski who finished runner up for the
Mens Foxtel Cup Gold Medal with a total of thirty votes,
two votes behind the winner.
The
achievements of Saliba, Fry, Sterjovski, the senior womens
and mens teams in season 2008 continues the clubs mission
to be the strongest, biggest and most successful club in
all of Australia's State clubs.
