South
comfortably secure points against Lions
Tuesday 16
June 2009
South Melbourne notched another comfortable win this
season against Preston Lions in Round 14 of the Victorian
Premier League at Bob Jane Stadium last Sunday.
Three goals in each half by South Melbourne secured all
three points against its rival, with goals from Zoric,
Payne, Youssef, Tavsancioglu, and a double from De Nittis.
South now occupy third position on the ladder.
Preston's horrible season continues on, although Lions
coach Zeljko Gagula can take some heart in the fact that
the Lions have in recent weeks started to score freely.
Goals came from Igorce Kolevski and new recruit from Lalor
SC Vladimir Konstandinovski, both in the second half.
However
the injury toll continues to rise as Lupce Koceski was
substituted due to injury in the 40th minute, with scans
latter on revealing damage on his knee which most likely
will see him missing the rest of the season. Thomas
Tolevski was also substituted early in the match due to
injury.
Next week
the Lions will face Green Gully Cavaliers, the only side
that the Lions have managed to steal points from this
season. The match will be played at Green Gully Reserve on
Saturday 20th June 2009 with kickoff from 4.00pm for
Seniors and 2.00pm for Under 21's.
