Zeljko
Gagula
commits to Lions for two years
PLFC MEDIA
RELEASE
Wednesday 18 November 2009
The Preston Lions Football Club wishes
to announce
the re-appointment of Zeljko Gagula as the senior coach
for the next two years.
Gagula
returned to Preston midway through 2009 after Zoran
Trajceski had resigned as coach after a dismal start to
the season.
The club is
pleased to re-appoint Gagula who has previously called B.T.
Connor Reserve home. Gagula held the position of assistant
coach in 2007 when Preston Lions finished the season as
Premiers and Champions of the Victorian Premier League,
and had also served as coach of the clubs Under 21
Youth Squad in 2005 and 2006.
Nick
Cuculeski who represented Preston Lions in excess of 100
games in the Victorian Premier League has also been
re-appointed as coach of the Under 21's Youth side in
2010.
The Lions
will compete in State League Division One in 2010 after
finishing last on the ladder in the 2009 Victorian Premier
League season, ending a thirteen year run in that
competition. During that period the club was Champions of
Victoria in 2002 and 2007, and Minor Premiers in 2003 and
2007. The last time Preston was in State League Division
One was back in 1996 when the Lions finished as Runners Up
and earned promotion to the VPL.
The club is
excited to appoint two experienced yet young coach's, in
line with the clubs policy of
promoting
stability within the coaching ranks.
The club is eager to rebuild from its disappointing 2009
season, and with that both Gagula and Cuculeski have a
vision of
nurturing
and developing young talented players, providing them with
a clear pathway from the Under 21's Youth side to the
Senior Men's.
The club
wishes both Zeljko Gagula
and Nick Cuculeski all the best for 2010.
