Preston Lions Football Club goalkeeper
Lupce Acevski has become another
player from the Lions ranks
to secure an A-League spot,
signing for the Melbourne Victory.
Acevski's short term contract at the
Victory is a result of Michael Theoklitos serving a
suspension for a red card that he received against the
Central Coast Mariners.
"(Victory
goalkeeping coach) Steve Mautone's been doing a great job
with him (Acevski). He fits our quality of players and
type of character that we like at the club. He's been one
of the boys already," said Victory coach Ernie Merrick.
With extensive experience Acevski's career includes
playing in the National Soccer League for Melbourne
Knights, Northern Spirit and Adelaide United, and last
year had a six month stint at Czech Republic First
Division side FK Siad Most before
returning to the Lions at the beginning of the 2008 Foxtel
Cup season.
The Preston Lions continues to
provide players a pathway to the national league in
Australia, as recent A-League
signings include Steven Pace to
Melbourne Victory, Izzy Erdogan
to Adelaide United, Zoran Petrevski
to Queensland Roar,
Saso Ognenovski to Adelaide United (a player that
represented Preston for six years in the VPL), as well as
the youngsters in the Lions squad Bale Micovski and Chris
Toleski who recently trailed but were unfortunately
unsuccessful for Victory's youth squad in the National
Youth League. |
