Frequently
Asked Questions
Who is Preston Lions FC?
The
Preston Lions Football Club JUNIORS is a branch of
Victoria's leading and most popular Premier League
club and former National Soccer League (NSL)
giant, the Preston Lions Football Club.
The Juniors Sub-Committee in a working
relationship with the Executive Committee of the
club is responsible for the day to
day running of the juniors program.
The club is committed to develop and nurture
junior players and provide them with a genuine
pathway to the Mens Under 21's (Victorian State
League One) and Womens Reserves (Womens Victorian
State League One Reserves) squads and eventually to the
Senior Mens (Victorian State League One) and
Senior Womens (Womens Victorian State League One) teams.
In
2011 the club has appointed Tommy Chetin (Accreditation:
Senior License and currently attempting UEFA “B”
License) as the Junior Coaching Director. The club will
only hire coach's that are accredited
or coach's that will work towards ascertaining
their accreditation.
What does my registration fee entitle me to?
The registration fee covers such items as Football
Federation Victoria (FFV) registration and
insurance, FFV team entry fees, uniform (shirt,
shorts, socks, tracksuit, polo, sports bag), club
membership, trophy, ticket to end of season
presentation night, coaching staff, ground
marking, equipment (including balls, cones,
hurdles, ladders) and other expenses (including
utilities, printing) associated with the operation
of the club. It also allows you to use the club
facilities on training nights and match days. Cost
of referees on match days will be covered by other
means by the club.
The club has worked hard to keep fees as low and
competitive as possible while at the same time
making sure that the interests of the club are
maintained by appropriately charging fees that
will cover the cost of operating the juniors
program. Parents are strongly encouraged to ask
what will they receive when comparing pricing with
other clubs.
When do fees have to be paid by?
All player fees need to be paid in full before the
player can be registered. Players who have not
paid in full will not be permitted to play.
What do I need to provide when registering my
child?
When a child is registered with Preston Lions FC
you must fill in a "PLFC Player Registration Form". If
the child is about to play in the FFV competition
for Preston Lions FC for the first time you must
provide proof of age (see below) and a passport
sized photograph. Team managers or another club
official will provide all necessary paperwork to
players.
Do I need to provide a birth certificate?
Children who are playing in the FFV junior
competition for the first time will need to
provide a copy of their birth certificate. This is
not optional. If the birth certificate has not
been provided we will not be registering the child
to play.
Do I need a transfer form if I come from a
different club?
Transfer forms are not required for junior
players. If a new player comes to Preston Lions
FC we will need to be told which club, if any,
the player last played at. This will enable us to
then transfer the player from that club to Preston
Lions FC.
Transfers are treated as new
registrations so the same documentation is
required (registration form, passport size photo,
proof of age (copy of birth certificate). Note
that proof of age is required for all players new
to the club. As a courtesy, we would ask that you
inform the other club of your intent to transfer
the player.
