from the Coach
On behalf of the players,
coaches and officials at the Preston Lions Football Club,
I would like to wish you a warm and exciting welcome to
season 2011.
We’ve received a lot of pats on the back from members and
supporters congratulating us on our fighting performance
during the second half of last season to remain in State
League Division 1. We accomplished a lot over the course
of the season, both in terms of our preparation for the
contest and our willingness to stick together and triumph
in the face of adversity, and I am truly proud of what we
achieved. But I know we still have more left in us. We
know there is a major gap between where we are and where
we want to be, and I am pleased to let you all know that
this group is ready to meet those challenges head on.
We are already focused on season 2011 and from December’s
pre-season we will be working hard and pushing ourselves
to the limit to prove just how hungry we are. Along with
our Under 21s coach, Chris Emsovski, both of us having
climbed through the junior ranks at Preston to become long
term senior players and now coaches, we will continue to
invest heavily in our youth development with the aim of
producing the next batch of future Preston stars.
We know we have more to give but we are going to need your
help. Membership support is without doubt one of the most
critical areas where the club can and must improve in
order to survive and prosper beyond 2011. As a
member-based club, the strength of our membership base is
directly linked to the success and viability of the club
both on and off the field.
So we ask all of our loyal members to continue their
support and for new members to join our passionate pride
and start their journey as a member. We’d also like to
encourage our past members and inactive supporters back to
the club to rediscover their passion and contribute
financially. Everybody knows someone who was once a member
or would love to become a member of our great club, and
the entire Preston Lions Football Club needs them on
board.
And on behalf of the players and coaches, I can certainly
vouch for how inspiring and motivating it is to have such
a vocal group of passionate Lions members and fans
situated right around the crowd. So I sincerely hope you
will join our growing membership family for 2011. You guys
are the lifeblood of our football club.
