Preston
Lions supporting White Ribbon Day
Tuesday 18
November
2008
The Preston Lions
Football Club is proud to announce its support of the City
of Darebin's initiative of raising awareness of White
Ribbon Day.
The White
Ribbon Campaign is an international movement started by a
group of Canadian men in 1991, to eliminate violence
against women. It begins with White Ribbon Day, 25
November, the International Day for the Elimination of
Violence Against Women, and ends on 10 December, the
International Day for Human Rights.
The Preston Lions Football Club in unison with Darebin
Council is calling on the community to consider these
serious consequences and together say "no" to violence
against women, by participating in this month’s White
Ribbon Campaign.
"Although Football amongst other sporting codes are seen
as male dominated, it can also play a role in promoting
this cause" stated Community Development Coordinator Pece
Siljanovski.
“We encourage our members and supporters, as well as the
whole community to purchase a White Ribbon and support the
White Ribbon Campaign this month.”
