Preston Lions Juniors representing Australia in Beijing
Olympics and in Under 20's training camp

Preston Lions
Football Club is proud to announce and congratulate former
Preston juniors Blagoja (Billy) Celeski and
Robert
Stambolziev for their selection in their respective
Australian squads recently.
Blagoja
Celeski who transferred from A-League side Perth Glory to
Melbourne Victory was a prominent figure in Australia's
squad in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Playing against the
likes of Argentina, Ivory Coast and Serbia, Celeski came
close to scoring on a number of occasions, with only the
woodwork and brilliant defending denying the youngster.
Another
former Preston Lions junior is also making his mark in
national team representation. Robert Stambolziev who
graced the junior fields of BT Connor Reserve from 1998 to
2005 is currently in England representing the Reserves and
Academy sides of Bristol City Football Club in England.
Stambolziev
last week was invited to join an 18-man squad in Canberra,
Australia for Australia's Under-20s squad for a special
training camp.
Preston Lions
FC official Pece Siljanovski stated that "the club is
proud that Celeski and Stambolziev, players that have
represented Preston Lions in the junior ranks have now
established themselves at the elite level. They are
shinning examples to our current junior players at the
club, as hopefully one day they can emulate these former
Preston players".
"Their (Celeski
and Stambolziev's) hard work and determination have paid
off as everyone at the Preston Lions family are thrilled
with their success and wish them the best of luck in their
future endeavours".
The club has
kept in contact with Stambolziev and hopefully in the near
future we will be able to bring you more insight and news
of his progress. |
