New committee to lead Lions resurgence
Monday 21 June 2010
PLFC MEDIA RELEASE
A new Committee has been elected to revive the fortunes of the Preston Lions Football Club following an Extraordinary General Meeting last week.

The new-look Committee includes several young members who will look to inject a youthful perspective and fresh ideas to help reinvigorate the club from the ground up.

New president, Pece Siljanovski, is excited by the influx of youth into the committee and said that this is the first step in leading the club to a more positive future.

“We now have the youngest committee the club has ever had and we hope this will inspire our members, sponsors, supporters and the community to rally behind the club and provide their support both on and off the field,” said Siljanovski.

Significantly, the new Committee also includes the club’s first ever female Vice President in Cathy Dafoski who will also double as the club’s Juniors Coordinator.

Meanwhile, the immediate attention of the Committee will be to work closely with senior coach Nick Cuculeski and bolster the squad during the mid-season registration period.

“Obviously our aim for the remainder of the year is to do absolutely everything possible to ensure that we remain in State League Division 1 next season, and we have absolute faith in Nick’s ability to deliver that objective,” said Siljanovski.

“The current playing group is probably the youngest ever in the club’s history and there is definitely some exciting talent there, but we know that we must strengthen the squad to give ourselves the best possible chance of survival. At the moment we are working day and night to sign a number of new players before the mid-season registration period closes next Wednesday.”

The new Committee structure to remain in place until the next Annual General Meeting later this year will be as follows:

• President – Pece Siljanovski
• Vice President (Juniors) – Cathy Dafoski
• Treasurer – Alex Sandev
• Secretary – Sash Dodevski
• Football Operations – Bobby Mircevski
• Sponsorship & Marketing – Tome Stojanovski
• Match Day Operations – Mendo Dimovski

Non-Committee volunteers:
• Kosta Gracievski (Council Delegate), Chris Terpos and Robert Kolevski

Siljanovski also said they are seeking to co-opt several new members to fulfill various other volunteer Committee positions at the club immediately.

“At the present time we are only a small group and as volunteers it is extremely difficult to do everything that needs to be done with only 7 or 8 people. I urge anyone who can devote 4-5 hours per week to help in areas like marketing, sponsorship, fundraising, events, media, communications, match day operations and administration, to come on board and join with us. Don’t stand back, we want you to come along for this exciting ride and help make a positive contribution!”

Those interested in offering their help are encouraged to contact Pece Siljanovski on 0425 821 634 or via email Preston.Lions.FC@gmail.com.

The Lions’ next home game is this coming Sunday the 27th of June against Langwarrin at B.T. Connor Reserve (kick-off at 3:00pm).
